United Way Niagara Launches 2025 Campaign with a message of UNITED impact

Niagara, ON, September 18, 2025 – United Way Niagara has set a fundraising goal of $5 million for the 2025 campaign. These funds will be vital in the continued effort to support thousands of individuals in the region who are dealing with the challenges of poverty. Responding to the unprecedented rise in demand for social services in Niagara means that our community must continue to unite under a shared goal of allowing every person to reach their full potential.
United Way Niagara is proud to play a vital role in funding programs and agencies in our communities that act as a lifeline for those in need. For example, people who are struggling with homelessness often need more than just a roof over their head to improve their situation. That’s where the social safety net comes in. As one of the largest non-government funders of social services in Niagara, one gift to United Way can help strengthen the safety net of social services for individuals who need support.
“United Way exists to ensure that the programs people rely on can continue running, without interruption. As the need for social services continue to grow, it becomes more vital than ever to ensure local agencies have the funds they need to continue the critical work they’re doing in the community,” says Frances Hallworth, CEO of United Way Niagara.
“People in need rely on local agencies when they need food, shelter, mental health support or safety. In turn, the agencies we support rely on us to help with funding – and we will continue to rely on our strong network of supporters to donate to our cause and make a united impact.”
Last year, United Way investments supported more than 100,000 residents in Niagara. That meant that tens of thousands of people were able to receive emergency shelter, nutritious meals or preventative counselling – thanks to the support of local donors. 2025 Campaign Chair Allie Hughes believes that this year, with the help of our community network, Niagara can make even more meaningful change in 2025
“I’m excited for the opportunity to use my voice and network to continue building on the momentum that United Way Niagara has built here in the community. When you hear some of the numbers around individuals impacted by these programs it is staggering,” says Allie Hughes, CEO Hughes&Co. “I believe in our team and know that every dollar raised will make powerful, local change right here in our region.”
The Firetruck Pull event raised a total of $30,000, kickstarting the path towards the goal of over $5 million for the campaign.
